MOED ambassadors

Col Joe Kittinger (ret.)

wearing the first MOED cap!

First man in space

Colonel Kittinger had gained recognition early in his career as the "first man in space" when he ascended in a balloon to 96000 feet on 2 june 1957. Later, in 1960, he broke another high balloon record, traveling to 102.800 feet before bailing out in a high-pressure suit.

Dedication

Joe did remarkable things in life, is an extremely dedicated (test)pilot, making air and space safer! He was also the first person in the world who flew solo in a gas balloon over the ocean and played an important role within the Red Bull Stratos project with Felix Baumgartner.

At 88 he is still dedicated in just being himself, doing the things he loves and helping others.
